Interested in both social and personal transformation, I seek balance between cultural truth, theory, and individual possibility. How can we hold our culture to account while extending possibility and mercy to individuals?

I seek balance between moral idealism and pragmatism. If there's a way to be both "right" and at peace with each other, I believe we'll find it through shared values, strategic and critical thinking, empathetic listening, better questions, and shared laughter.

My standpoint: I am a sociology student and an ex-fundamentalist Christian. I've raised four children from multiple locations: wealthy, poor, single, married, in a queer family, in straight family, long-distance, and in states of chronic trauma and pain. I'm a queer white Canadian settler. I was raised by a single teen mom in a family baked in generational trauma. Thinkers who influence me are: adrienne maree brown, Peter Block, Sarah Schulman, Donella Meadows, Adrienne Rich, bell hooks, and Simone Weil, among others.
